A very short report from the Italian Conference on Free Software 2007.

First of all, I have to congratulate for the organisation and thank for the hospitality the Cosenza Hacklab. It’s not simple to organize such a conference, but they did it well indeed.

Though our paper could be seen a little far from the general context, many participants liked it, and I hope that we will collaborate on some projects soon. Our presentation’s slideshow (320 Kb, in italian) is now online.

So here it is a short list of the most interesting papers (and I hope I will collaborate on same projects with them).

Mariella Berra, for emphasizing the novelty brought by Free Software communities as an organizational form based on gift economy. (abstract)

Daniel Donato and Fausto Napolitano for trying to bring Free Software participation methodologies in the civil participation dimension. (abstract)

Lorenzo Benussi and Cristina Rossi for their studies about the local dimension of Free Software communities and their influence on the local economy, linking the Free Software experience to the territory.(abstract)

Vincenzo D’Andrea, Stefano De Paoli, Maurizio Teli for finding in science-fiction the cultural roots of the software development organisational forms, bringing more light into the comprension of Hacker culture. (abstract)

Last but not least, thanks to the bookseller for telling us the Cathedral’s story, and thanks to Lorenz for saving us from dehydration during the going trip! :)

See you next year…maybe in Trento? ;)
